பகவான் தத்தாத்திரேயர் பரம்பரையில் வந்த ஸ்ரீ வல்லபாவிற்கு அடுத்த அவதாரம் ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ம ஸ்வாமி அவர்கள். மகராஷ்டிராவில் வராட் என்ற மாவட்டத்தில் ஒரு பிராமணக் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்தவருடைய தந்தையின் பெயர் மாதவா, தாயாரின் பெயர் அம்பா பவானி என்பது.
முன் பிறவியில் அம்பிகா என்ற ஒரு பிராமணப் பெண் அவளது மகன் மூடனாக இருந்ததால் நதியில் விழுந்து தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்ள முயன்ற பொழுது அவளை தடுத்து நிறுத்தி அடுத்த பிறவியில் தானே அவளுக்கு மகனாகப் பிறப்பதாக வாக்கு கொடுத்ததை நிறைவேற்றவே, முன் பிறவியில் அம்பிகாவாக இருந்த அம்பா பவானி தம்பதியினருக்கு ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ம சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமியாக அவதரித்தார் என்று நம்பப்படுகின்றது. அதன் காரணம் முன்பிறவியில் அம்பிகா சனிப்பிரதோஷம் தவறாமல் செய்து வந்தவள். அனைத்து பூஜா புனஸ்காரங்களை நெறியுடன் செய்து வந்தவள் என்பதே ஆகும். அதனால்தான் பகவான் தத்தர் அனுக்கிரகத்தினால் ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ம ஸ்வாமியை தன் மகனாகப் பெற்றெடுத்தார்.
ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ம ஸ்வாமி பிறந்த உடனேயே பிற குழந்தைகளை போல அழவில்லை. சிறுவயதில் பேசவும் இல்லை என்றாலும் ஓம், ஓம் என்ற நாமத்தை உச்சரித்தபடி இருந்தாராம். அவர் பேசவில்லையே என ஏங்கிய பெற்றோரர்களிடம் தனக்கு பூணூல் வைபவம் முடிந்தவுடன்தான் தான் பேசுவேன் என்பதாக ஜாடை மூலம் தெரிவித்தார். அவருக்கு நரஹரி என்ற பெயரை சூட்டி இருந்தார்கள்.
குழந்தைப் பருவத்திலேயே பல விதமான அற்புதங்களை செய்தார். பொதுவாக ஒரு பழமொழி உண்டு. ஒருவன் கடவுள் அனுக்கிரகம் நிறைந்தவர் என்றால் அவர் தொட்டதெல்லாம் தங்கமாகும் என்று வேடிக்கையாகக் கூறுவது உண்டு. நரஹரி விஷயத்தில் அதுவும் நடந்தது. அவர் குழந்தையாக இருந்த பொழுது ஒரு நாள் இரும்புத் துண்டை கையில் எடுக்க அது தங்கமாக மாறியது. ஏதோ ஒரு மாயம் போல இருக்கின்றதே என எண்ணி அந்தக் குழந்தையை உள்ளே கொண்டு போய் வேறு ஒரு இரும்புத் துண்டை அதன் கையில் தர அதுவும் தங்கமாக மாறியதாம். அதைக் கேட்ட ஜோதிடர்கள் அந்த குழந்தை தெய்வீக குழந்தை என்பதாக கூறினார்கள். இப்படிப்பட்ட கதைகள் அவரைக் குறித்து உண்டு. அவருக்கு உபனயனம் செய்த பொழுது பண்டிதர்கள் கூறாமலேயே வேதங்களை ஓதத் துவங்கி அனைவரையும் ஆச்சரியத்தில் ஆழ்த்தினார்.
பூணூல் வைபவம் முடிந்த சில நாட்களிலேயே அவர் தனது தாயாரிடம் சென்று தான் குடும்ப வாழ்க்கையை துறந்து சந்யாச வாழ்க்கையை மேற்கொள்ள உள்ளதாகக் கூறி யாசகம் கேட்டார். அதைக் கேட்டு மனம் ஒடிந்து போன தாயாரிடம் ‘அவள் எதற்கும் கவலைபடக் கூடாது, அவளுக்கு மேலும் சில மகன்கள் பிறப்பார்கள், மனதில் உள்ள துயரங்களை மறந்து மனம் தெளிவடைய தன்னை நினைத்து தியானம் செய்யுமாறு’ கூறிவிட்டு வாரணாசிக்கு கிளம்பிச் சென்று அங்கு ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ண சரஸ்வதி என்ற துறவியின் சிஷ்யனாக இருந்து திட்சைப் பெற்றார். அவருடைய பெயரை ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ம ஸ்வாமி என அவர்தான் மாற்றினார்.
அவர் வாழ்ந்திருந்த காலத்தில் பகவான் தத்தாத்ரேயர் புகழ் பெரிய அளவில் படர்ந்து இருந்தது. அங்கும் இங்கும் சென்றவர் பல பண்டிதர்களை வாக்குவாதங்களில் தோற்கடித்தார். பல பண்டிதர்கள் அவரிடம் வந்து பல விஷயங்களில் தங்களுக்கு இருந்த சந்தேகங்களை கேட்டு விளக்கம் பெற்றார்கள். மத மாற்றங்கள் குறையலாயிற்று. அது மட்டும் அல்ல குரு சிஷ்யப் பரம்பரைகள் இவர் காலத்தில்தான் பெருகலாயிற்று. பரமாத்மனே குரு என்பார். மத வழிபாடுகளும், தெய்வ நம்பிக்கைகளும் இவர் காலத்தில் பெருகித் தழைத்தன. வைஜியநாத் என்ற இடத்தில் ஒரு வருட காலம் தனிமையில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு தவம் இருந்தார். அமராபூர் என்ற இடத்தில் பன்னிரண்டு வருடங்கள் இவர் வாழ்ந்து வந்ததால் அவருக்கு பெருமை சேர்க்கும் வகையில் அந்த கிராமத்தின் பெயரை நசோபாவாடி, என்றும் நரசிம்ஹவாடி என்ற பெயரலும் அழைக்கலாயினர். அங்கிருந்து கங்காபூர் என்ற இடத்திற்கு சென்று இருபது வருடங்களுக்கு மேல் அங்கிருந்து கொண்டு மக்களின் துயர் துடைத்து வந்தார். அங்கு இருந்த பொழுதுதான் பல அற்புதங்களை அவர் நிகழ்த்தினார்.
அவர் உபதேசித்த முக்கியமான குரு போதனை என்ன எனில் ‘குரு என்பவர் மும்மூர்திகளின் அவதாரமானவர். ஆனால் உருவ அமைப்பில் மட்டுமே மாற்றம் கொண்டவர். பகவான் சிவனுக்கு மூன்று கண்கள், குருவிற்கு இரண்டு கண்கள், பிரும்மாவிற்கு மூன்று தலைகள்,குருவிற்கு ஒரே தலைதான். அது போல திருமாலுக்கு நான்கு கைகள், குருவிற்கு இரண்டு கைகள் மட்டுமே’ வாரணாசி, திரியம்பகேசுவரர், பத்ரிநாத், கங்காசாகர், ஒடும்பபூர், கங்காபூர், நாசர்வாடி போன்ற இடங்களில் அவர் இருந்தார். அவருக்கு இந்துக்கள் மட்டும் அல்ல முஸ்லிம் மதத்தில் இருந்தும் கூட பக்தர்கள் இருந்தனர் என்பது ஒரு பெருமையான விஷயமாகும்.
இருபது வருடங்கள் வட தேசங்களில் யாத்திரை செய்த பின் ஒரு முறை தன் சொந்த வீட்டிற்கும் சென்றார். அந்த நேரத்தில் அவரை பலர் தங்களுடைய வீடுகளுக்கு அழைத்திருந்தனர். எவர் மனதையும் புண்படுத்தலாகாது என எண்ணிய ஸ்வாமிகளும் ஒரே நேரத்தில், தன வீட்டினருக்கும் சேர்த்து கூப்பிட்ட அனைத்து பக்தர்கள் வீட்டிலும் தரிசனம் தந்து அனைவருக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியை தந்தார்.
வெகு விரைவில் அவரை அனைவரும் தெய்வாம்சம் நிறைந்த சித்த புருஷராகவே பார்க்கலாயினர். பலரது பிணிகளையும் தீர்த்தார். பேய் பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்த பக்தர்களின் உடலில் இருந்து அவர்களைப் பிடித்து இருந்த ஆவிகளைத் துரத்தினார். கங்காபூரில் இருந்த பொழுது தன் பக்தர்களுக்கு பீமா-அம்ஜாரா என்ற நதிகள் சங்கமிக்கும் இடத்தில் இருந்த ஒரு நெல்லி மரத்தைக் காட்டி எவருக்கு துயரங்கள் தோன்றுமோ அவர்கள் அங்கு வந்து உண்மையான மனதுடன் வேண்டிக் கொண்டால் துயரம் விலகும், அவர்கள் வேண்டியது நிறைவேறும் என்று கூறி அதை ஒரு புண்ணியத் தலமாக மாற்றினார்.
இப்படிப்பட்ட பல அற்புதங்களை நிகழ்த்தி வந்தவர் கங்காபூரில் இருந்து கிளம்பிச் சென்று வாழை இலையில் செய்த படகில் பூக்களை வைத்தது கொண்டு வருமாறு கூறினார். படகு வந்ததும் அதில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு நதியின் அக்கரைக்கு வெகு தூரம் தனியே பயணம் செய்தார். அவர் தன் பக்தர்களிடம் கூறி இருந்தபடி அந்த பூக்களால் நிறைந்து இருந்த படகு அவர் இல்லாமல் பூக்களுடன் அவர் கிளம்பிச் சென்ற இடத்திற்கு திரும்பி வந்து சேர்ந்து ஸ்வாமிகள் நல்லபடியாக எங்கு செல்ல வேண்டுமோ அங்கு சென்று விட்டார் என்பதை கூறாமல் கூறியது.வர வாழ்ந்திருந்த இடங்கள் புண்ணிய தலங்கள் ஆயின.

Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi Swami incarnated after Sri Vallabha who was the first incarnate of Lord Dattathreya disappeared from earth. Thus he becomes the second incarnate of Lord Dattathreya. He was born to Madhava and Amba Bhavani couple, a simple living Brahmin family who resided in Varat in Maharashtra.
Amba Bhavani was Ambika in her previous birth and in that birth Sri Vallabha prevented her from committing suicide because of frustration on her son, promising that he would be born to her as her son in her next birth. Hence Lord Dattathreya was born to Amba Bhavani couple as Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi because she used to scrupulously perform the Pradosha pooja on Saturdays and maintained spiritual discipline in her previous life. Hence Lord Dattathreya blessed her with his manifestation through her.
Shri Nrusimha Saraswati was a quiet child and did not cry as usual like any other child who cry after birth. In childhood, he did not speak which led his parents to worry about his speech ability. However the child Shri Narahari which was the name given to Shri Nrusimha Saraswathi indicated by gestures that he would start speaking only after the thread ceremony was performed to him, but at the same time the Shri Narahari continuously kept reciting the mantra ‘Om’.
He used to perform miracles even from his childhood. There is a saying in Tamil that a blessed person would turn everything to gold. True to it, once in childhood, Shri Narahari was born, he touched an iron rod which turned into gold. Astonished parents then took the child inside and made it touch an iron rod which too turned into that of gold. Astrologers indicated to Madhava Sharma that their child was indeed an avatar of the Lord. Such stories were widely circulated. When thread warming ceremony was performed on Shri Narahari , he began to chant the relevant mantras of the ritual even before the pundit started to chant them which shocked everyone.
Within few days after sacred thread ceremony, Shri Narahari begged for alms from his mother and left for pilgrimage indicating that he has adapted the path of a Sanyas renouncing family life. He advocated to his saddened mother to keep on meditating on him which would help her cross over the world of misery and ignorance. Further she would also be blessed with more sons. Later Sri Narahari went to Varanasi and learnt Yoga and became a disciple of one Shri Krishna Saraswathi and took diksha from him. It was Shri Krishna Saraswathi who named him as Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi.
During those period the fame of Lord Dattathreya had spread far and wide. Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi was viewed as incarnate of Lord Dattathreya and took part in several debates held between pundits and won in each one of them. Many learned flocked to him for the elucidation of intricate questions in spiritual knowledge and got their doubts clarified and attained self-realization. Religious conversions came down and true Guru- Shishya parambara began to get established. He clarified that Paramathman was Guru and sat in isolation in a place called Baijyanath and meditated for one year. When he lived in Amarapur, the place was renamed by the locals as Nasobavadi as well as Nrusimhavadi in honour of him. For over twenty years he lived in Gangapur where he displayed several miracles with his divine power.
He used to say that a Guru was none but incarnate of Trinities and appeared differently than them. Lord Shiva had three eyes where as Guru had only two, Lord Brahma had three heads while the Guru had only one and finally while Lord Vishnu had four hands, the guru had only two. He lived in places like Badrinath, Triambakeswar, Gangasagar, Odumbapur, Gangapur, Nasarvadi etc all of which became spiritual centers in later years. Not only Hindus became his disciple, even Muslims came to him and became his disciples.
Once when Swamiji went to his native place, he was invited by several disciples at a particular auspicious time. In order to please every one of them, he appeared in all their houses at the same time besides appearing at his home to the wonder and joy of his family and town people, and he blessed them all.
Shri Narasimha Saraswathi soon became a Siddha Purush with divine powers of healing physical ailments and alleviating worries of his devotees and drove away the evil spirits from those afflicted with such problems. While he was staying near the banks of rivers Bheema- Amjaara , he showed a gooseberry tree to his disciples and advised them to come and rest below the tree whenever they felt hardship in life or mentally disturbed. The aspirations of those who worshiped him there with true love would be fulfilled.
When the time came for ending his incarnation , he asked the people to get a float made of banana leaves adorned with flowers. The float was placed in the river and Shri Nrusimha Saraswathi sat on it and entered into the river near Gangapur. The boat carried him towards the other end and returned back with the same flowers without Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi in it indicating that the divine personality had gone to the place where he was supposed to go. The places where he stayed, have become centers of pilgrimage.
