மத்தியப் பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள நகரங்களில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானது இந்தூர் நகரம் ஆகும். அங்கு பழைய காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்ட சிறப்பான ஆலயங்கள் உண்டு. இந்தூர் நகரம் முன் ஒரு காலத்தில் மால்வா மன்னர்களின் ஆட்சியில் இருந்தது. மால்வா மன்னர்கள் பெரும்பாலும் மராட்டிய வம்சத்தை சேர்ந்தவர்கள், கடவுள் பக்தி மிகுந்தவர்கள். அந்த வம்சத்தை சேர்ந்த மன்னர்களில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானவர்களில் ஒருவர் ஹோல்கர் வம்சத்தை சேர்ந்த இராணி தேவி அஹில்யா குடும்பத்தினர் ஆவர். இந்தூர், உஜ்ஜயினி மற்றும் தேவாஸ் போன்ற இடங்கள் அவர்களது ஆட்சிக்கு உட்பட்டிருந்தன. பெரும் பக்திமானாக இராணி தேவி அஹில்யா பல ஆலயங்களை நிறுவி உள்ளார். இந்தூரில் இருந்து ஓம்காரீஷ்வருக்குப் போகும் பாதையில் உள்ள மண்டலீஷ்வர் என்ற ஊரில் அவர் ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட வித விதமான சிறியதும், பெரியதுமான சிவலிங்கங்களை ஒரு ஆலயத்தில் வைத்து வணங்கி வந்தார். அவருடைய சபையில் எந்த ஒரு முக்கியமான முடிவெடுக்கும் நேரத்திலும், ஒரு சிறிய சிவலிங்கத்தை தன்னுடைய கையில் வைத்துக் கொண்டுதான் தனது முடிவைக் கூறுவார் என்று அவருடைய சிறப்பைப் பற்றிக் கூறுவார்கள்.
இப்படி பெருமை வாய்ந்த ராணி அஹில்யாபாயின் கனவில் ஒரு முறை வினாயகர் தோன்றி தான் இந்தூரில் கஜரானா எனும் பகுதியில் உள்ள ஒரு குளத்தில் மூழ்கிக் கிடப்பதாகவும், தன்னை வெளியில் எடுத்து ஒரு ஆலயம் அமைத்து வழிபடுமாறும் கூறினாராம். கஜரானா என்ற பகுதி இந்தூரில் மிகவும் நெரிச்சல் மிக்க பகுதியாக இருக்க, என்ன செய்வது என முதலில் குழம்பியவள், தன்னுடைய கனவு பற்றி மற்றவர்களுடன் கலந்து ஆலோசித்தப் பின் வினாயகர் கொடுத்தக் கட்டளையை மீறக் கூடாதென முடிவெடுத்து, கஜரானாவில் இருந்த ஒரு குளத்தை சுத்தம் செய்து தூர் வாரச் செய்தார். அப்படி செய்கையில் அந்த குளத்தினுள் புதைந்து இருந்த வினாயகர் விக்ரகம் கிடைத்தது. என்ன ஆச்சரியம். அந்த பிள்ளையாரும் அவருடைய கனவிலே தோன்றிய வினாயகரும் ஒரே மாதிரி இருந்தனர். உடனே அந்த விக்ரகத்தை சுத்தம் செய்து அந்த குளத்தின் எதிரிலேயே அகம முறைப்படி ஆலயம் ஒன்றை எழுப்பி, விக்ரகத்தைப் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து 1735 ஆம் ஆண்டு அந்த ஆலயத்தில் பூஜைகளைத் துவக்கினாராம். குளத்தினுள் மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்த அந்த சிலை குறித்த இன்னொரு கதையும் உள்ளது . அதன்படி இந்தியாவில் வடநாடுகளில் படையெடுத்து வந்த முகலாய மன்னர்கள் காலத்தில், இந்த இடத்தில் ஒரு சிறிய ஆலயத்தில் அந்த விநாயகர் வணங்கப்பட்டு வந்திருந்தார் என்றும், அப்போது அங்கு படையெடுத்து வந்த மன்னன் அவுரங்கசீப்பிடம் இருந்து சிலையை பாதுகாப்பதற்காக, அந்த சிலையை அங்கிருந்த ஒரு குளத்தில் மறைத்து வைத்திருந்தார்கள் என்றும் அந்த சிலையைத்தான் ஹோல்கர் வம்சத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ராணி அகிலியாபாய் வெளியில் எடுத்து அந்த ஆலயத்தை நிறுவினார் என்பதாகவும் நம்புகின்றார்கள் .
சுமார் ஆறு அடி உயரமுள்ள வினாயகரின் சிலைக்கு இரு பக்கத்திலும் இரண்டு மனைவிகளை வடிவமைத்து உள்ளனர். அந்த ஆலயத்தில் ஏழு அல்லது எட்டுத் தலைமுறையாக பூஜைகளை செய்து வரும் பண்டிதர் அதன் பெருமையை மனம் மகிழ்ந்து கூறினார். பண்டிகை தினங்களிலும், புதன் மற்றும் ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை போன்ற நாட்களிலும் பெரிய அளவில் மக்கள் பிரார்த்தனை செய்வதற்காக இந்த கோவிலுக்கு வருவார்கள். நடு இரவுவரை நீண்ட வரிசையில் மக்கள் நின்றிருந்து வினாயகரின் அருகில் சென்று அவரை வணங்கி வேண்டுதல்கள் செய்கின்றனர். உள்ளூர் நம்பிக்கையின்படி இந்த கோவிலில் வழிபட்டவுடன் பக்தர்களின் அனைத்து விருப்பங்களும் நிறைவேறும், அதை போல இங்கு வந்து எதையாவது வேண்டிக் கொண்டால், குறுகிய காலத்திற்குள் ஆசை நிறைவேறும் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.
குடும்பத்தில் அமைதியின்மை, தடை பெற்று வரும் காரியங்கள் சித்தி பெற, குடும்பச் சண்டை போன்றவற்றிக்கு நிவாரணம் பெற என பல்வேறு கோரிக்கைகளை வைத்து வேண்டுதல் செய்கின்றனர். வினாயகரை வேண்டிக் கொண்டு அந்த ஆலத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு மரத்தில் நோம்புக் கயிற்றைக் கட்டி வைத்துவிட்டு ஒரு தேங்காயை பூசாரியிடம் தந்து விட்டு வேண்டுதல்களை அவரிடம் கூறிவிட்டுச் செல்கின்றனர். அதை அவர் ஸ்வாமி பீடத்தில் வைத்து விடுகின்றார். எப்பொழுது தன் வேண்டுதல் பலிக்கின்றதோ அப்பொழுது அவர் அந்த ஆலயத்திற்குச் சென்று பூசாரியிடம் அதைப் பற்றிக் கூற அவர் பீடத்தில் இருந்து ஒரு தேங்காயை பிரசாதமாகத் தருகிறார்.
அந்த ஆலயத்திற்கு செல்லும் பல பக்தர்கள் கூறும் கதைகள் மெய்சிலிர்க்க வைக்கின்றன. ஒரு முறை ஒருவருடைய வீட்டில் பல லட்சம் மதிப்புள்ள பணமும் நகைகளும் திருட்டுப் போய் விட்ன. திருடனைக் கண்டு பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. அவர்கள் ஜோதிடரிடம் சென்று கேட்ட பொழுது அவர்களும் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட காலத்தைக் கூறி அதற்குள் அவனைப் பிடிக்காவிடில் அதன் பிறகு அந்த திருடனை பிடிக்கவே முடியாது, அவன் பிடிக்க முடியாத இடத்திற்கு சென்று விடுவான் எனக் கூறி விட்டார். அவர்கள் கொடுத்திருந்த கெடுவும் முடிந்து. திருடனைக் கண்டு பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. மாதங்கள் ஓடிவிட்டன. மனம் வெறுத்துப் போன அந்த வீட்டினரிடம் எதேற்சையாக ஒருவர் நீங்கள் கஜரானா ஆலயம் சென்று அங்கு வேண்டிக் கொள்ளுங்கள், அவர் நிச்சயமாக வேண்டுதலை நிறைவேற்றுவார் எனக் கூறி அவர்களை ஆலயத்திற்கு தாமே அழைத்துச் சென்றார். அந்த தம்பதியினரும் அங்கு சென்று வேண்டிக் கொண்டு திரும்பினர். என்ன அதிசயம். அதற்கு அடுத்த சில நாட்களிலேயே வெளியூருக்குத் தப்பி ஓடி விட்டிருந்த அதே திருடன் மீண்டும், முதலில் திருடியவருடைய வீட்டை ஒட்டியபடி பின்னால் இருந்த வீட்டில் திருட வந்தான். எதிர்பாராத விதத்தில் அவன் வீதியில் விளையாடிக் கொண்டு இருந்த சிறு பையன்களிடம் மாட்டிக் கொண்டான். களவு போனதில் பத்து சதவிகித தொகை கூட திரும்பக் கிடைக்கவில்லை என்றாலும். அவர்கள் மிகவும் போற்றி வைத்திருந்த முக்கியமான ஒரு பொருள் கிடைத்தது. பிடிக்க முடியாதென ஜோதிடர் முதல் காவல்துறையினர்வரை கூறியும் பல மாதங்களுக்குப் பின் அதே திருடன் கிடைத்தான். அதை என்னவென்று சொல்வது? இப்படி பல பல சம்பவங்களைக் கூறுகின்றனர். பிளவு பட்ட குடும்பம் ஒன்றானது, பிழைப்பது சாத்தியம் இல்லை என கைவிடப்பட்டவர் பிழைத்தது, அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்து கொண்ட பின் அந்த காயம் கூடத் தெரியாத அளவில் காயம் மாறிப்போனது, வருடக் கணக்கில் தேங்கிக் கிடந்த வழக்கினால் மன அமைதியை இழந்தவர் ஆலயத்தில் சென்று வேண்டிக் கொண்ட அடுத்த சில நாட்களில் வழக்கு மீண்டும் எடுக்கப்பட்டு அவருக்கு சாதகமாக முடிந்தது என இப்படி பல பல கதைகள் உண்டு. இந்தூர் செல்பவர்கள் அவசியம் காண வேண்டிய ஆலயம் கஜரானா கணபதி ஆலயம்.
முதலின் சன்னதியை மட்டுமே உள்ளடக்கி இருந்த ஆலயம் பின்னர் விரிவாக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இந்த ஆலயத்தின் சன்னதியை சுற்றி மிகப் பெரிய மண்டபம் கட்டப்பட்டு உள்ளது. சன்னதியை சுற்றி வரும் வகையில் அதை கட்டி உள்ளார்கள். பிரதான ஆலய வளாகத்துக்குள் ஹனுமான் சன்னதி, சனீஸ்வரர் ஆலயம், சாயிபாபா ஆலயம், அன்னபூரணி சன்னதி , கால பைரவர் சன்னதி போன்றவை பின்னர் எழுப்பப்பட்டு உள்ளன. கஜரானா கணபதியின் சன்னதிக்குப் பின்புறத்தில் பூமிக்கு அடியில் அமைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ள சன்னதியில் பெரிய சிவலிங்கம் உள்ளது.
ஆலயம் செல்லும் வழி: இந்தூர் நகரத்திற்குச் சென்றால் ரெயில் நிலையத்தில் இருந்தும், பஸ் நிலயத்தில் இருந்தும் சுமார் இரண்டு அல்லது மூன்று கிலோ தொலைவில் நகரத்துக்கு உள்ளேயே உள்ள கஜரானா கணபதி ஆலயத்திற்கு நேரடியாக சென்று வர டெம்போ, ஆட்டோ மற்றும் பஸ்கள் நிறைய கிடைக்கின்றன.

One of the important cities in Madhya Pradesh have been the city of Indore. It houses several ancient temples and was under the Malwa rulers who were basically descents of Maratha clan. One of the most important ruler in them was Queen Ahilya Bhai of Holkar dynasty. Small districts in those period like Indore, Ujjain and Dewas together called Malwa were under their rule. During her reign Queen Ahilya Bhai has established many temples in which the one she has established in the river bank in Mandaleshwar is unique. It is in a small village enroute to Omkareshwar from Indore where thousands of Shiva Lings of different types and nature collected by her had been kept for her worship. It is stated that before taking any crucial decision, she would hold a small Shiva Ling in her hand and then only pronounce her decision.
Once Lord Ganesha appeared in the dream of Queen Ahilya Bhai and informed her that he was submerged inside a pond in Kajarana which was a crowded locality and that he should be taken out and worshiped in a temple. Initially confused and reluctant queen consulted her aids and finally decided to carry out the directives of the Lord given in her dream. When a pond which was found in Kajarana was cleaned and searched, they found the idol of Lord Ganesh submerged inside. They took out the idol and consecrated in a small temple constructed in the year 1735 with full agamic rituals. To the surprise of the Queen the idol exactly matched to the one she saw in her dream. There is also a small by story on the idol found inside the pond. Those were the period when the northern India was under the attack and invasion of Muslim rulers, and in one such occasion when Emperor Aurangzeb invaded north, in order to preserve the idol from getting destroyed, the locals hid it inside the Pond, which was actually recovered by the Queen.
The six feet idol of Lord Ganesha was consecrated with two of his wives seated on either side. The pundit, who has been performing rituals in the temple for the last seven to eight generations, claimed that the temple is flooded with devotees on Wednesdays, Sundays and on important festive days. Devotees line up and move towards the idol of the Lord even if it passed late night because it is believed that whoever went their and prayed for something, their wish would fulfilled within a short span of time.
Therefore people come here and pray for readdress of family feud, and to remove obstacles and hurdles in their affairs. In order to get their prayers answered, they tie a sacred rope on a special tree found near the sanctum and hand over a coconut to the pundit with their demand. He keep the coconut on the pedestal of the Lord with prayers and once their demand gets answered suitably, they visit the temple again and take a coconut from the pundit as token of prasad (gift) from the Lord.
The stories on the glory of the temple is scintillating. Once there was a theft in a family in Dewas which resulted in the loss of lakhs of rupees worth cash and jewellery. The thief could not be traced and when they sought the advice of an astrologer, he indicated a specific period and told them that if the thief could not be traced within that time, then they would not recover anything as the thief would escape to untraceable place. The specific time period spelled out by the astrologer ended and the thief could not be traced. The family was shattered. However one of the friends of that family encouraged them to go to Kajarana temple to place prayer seeking recovery of the lost material and they would certainly get back their lost material. Not content with simple advice, he personally took them to the temple to perform the ritual. What a miracle. The thief was caught by the children playing around while the same thief attempted to steal again in the house just behind the same house in which he had stolen earlier. It happened within few days after offer of worship in Kajarana temple. The thief was caught after several months of the deadline given by the astrologer. Many such tales are told. The feud in a family resulting in the split got resolved amicably, a patient who was abandoned by the doctors as unable to cure got fully recovered, a litigant who lost mental peace on account of loosing a case won the same case again on appeal etc are few more stories in the list. Those who go to Indore must go to this Lord Ganesha temple in Kajarana.
Initially the temple had only the main sanctum of Lord Ganesha. But subsequently the temple has been expanded with the addition of sanctums housing Lord Hanuman, Lord Sai Baba, Lord Kala Bhairava, Goddess Annapoornini etc. They are in the outer passage around the sanctum of Lord Ganesha which is a huge hall. A Shiva Ling has been consecrated in an underground shrine behind the sanctum of Lord Ganesha.
How to reach the temple: – Plenty of buses, tempos, and taxis are plying from different parts of the city including from railway station and main bus stand to go to Kajarana.
